The selected filmmakers will be competing for two prizes worth over 1K and the opportunity to make it to the Grand Finale Event in January. The 2nd round prizes are sponsored by Seed&Spark, Carpingo, AllCar Rent A Car, Pulp NYC, Museum of the Moving Image, Bait & Hook, and more.

Also, two of our newest partners — 30under30 Film Festival NYC and Rated SR Socially Relevant Film Festival New York — will select one film each to screen as an Official Selection at their upcoming Festival.

Launched in the Summer of 2012, Katra Film Series screens a selection of quality short films by emerging and award-winning filmmakers in NYC and provides a great networking platform for industry professionals. In partnership with Everyone Matters and Rhino Films the 2014 Grand Prize Winner will be awarded a one-on-one meeting with acclaimed Producer Stephen Nemeth from the Academy-Award Nominated The Sessions and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

A 13-minute short starring Bryan Cranston as a frustrated screenwriter seeking out his muse. In 2012, Hurricane Sandy temporarily halted the production of “Cold Comes the Night,” a drama-thriller starring Bryan Cranston. During that impromptu downtime, Cranston created a contest. He invited the movie’s production assistants to create a script to submit to him, and if he liked it, he’d star in it. The winner was Brandon Polanco, and the result was “Writer’s Block,” a short black-and-white starring Cranston, Lela Edgar, Spenser Granese, and Chaz Rose.

Bayonet was an official selection at two Oscar-qualifying film festivals: Montreal World Film Festival and Warsaw Film Festival.

A murder investigation has landed Alfred in an interrogation room where to the surprise of a probing detective, he confesses to seven murders. The detective must determine if Alfred is bluffing, telling the truth, or simply insane.

Spade stars Jorge Garcia who is best known for his role as Hugo “Hurley” Reyes on the hit TV show LOST. Jorge Garcia has recently been added to the cast of Hawaii 5-0 where he will begin as a series regular next season.

Giulia asks him if everything is ok, Lorenzo spills the beans: he really likes Giulia but he is concerned about the little time they have together since they are in a low budget independent short movie.

It is an uplifting and unique story about Nicki Muller, a 21-year-old art student, who was diagnosed with brain cancer. The unique way in which Nicki created artwork directly relating to her brain cancer, invites for the exploration of her artistry.
