The Top 12 shorts since the beginning of the year will compete for great prizes and the chance to advance to the grand finale series in January 2016.

The 2nd round prizes sponsored by Filmmaker Magazine, Museum of the Moving Image, 30under30 Film Festival, Pulp NYC, Career Momentum for Artists, and more.

Launched in the Summer of 2012, Katra Film Series screens a selection of quality short films by emerging and award-winning filmmakers in NYC and provides a great networking platform for industry professionals. In partnership with Everyone Matters and Rhino Films the 2015 Grand Prize Winner will be awarded a one-on-one meeting with acclaimed Producer Stephen Nemeth from the Academy-Award Nominated The Sessions and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

2nd ROUND LINEUP:

TAKE 5 – directed by Jasmine Callis
A short-film about a college film crew, documenting high-school basketball star, Marcus Fulton Jr., during his senior year at Englewood High.

MISSING GRANDMA – directed by Adel Morales
A 60-year-old grandmother, Mita, who doesn’t hesitate to throw a slipper at you, is in the early stages of dementia, as she tries to impress upon her 16-year-old granddaughter, Tammi, the need to act like a lady.

WINTER’S HOLD – directed by Ian Voglesong
A young farmer in self imposed isolation must come to grips with a personal tragedy or be consumed by it.

ROCK N ROLL GHOSTTOWN – directed by Peter Garafalo
Join East Village/Lower East Side lifer, Vince Void, as he takes you on a present day journey through the past in lower Manhattan, lamenting the loss of downtown culture and showing you the gentrified mass that has replaced it.

LOSERS – directed by Carlos Del Rosario
Pop culture addicts Zack and Manny attend an engagement party where groom-to-be Roy, a former ‘mega-geek’ has turned ‘normal’

FAILURE GROUPIES – directed by Mandira Chauhan
A comedy that follows a group of suburban post 9-11 tweens who set up a spy mission to get their temperamental teacher fired when they fail a group project.

CHROMOSOME 4 – directed by Daniel Diosdado
Alicia tries to calm down in the restroom of a police station. They have been questioning her about the disappearance of her 3-year-old son. She swears that she has nothing to do with it, that somebody else took him… Somebody who came from a different place…

10 SECOND BARRIER – directed by Alfonso Rodriguez
In the days leading to his championship race, a troubled high school track runner must choose between his gut instincts and the influence of his misguided older brother.

MULTIVERSE – directed by Michael Dibiasio
A reclusive young woman braves a night out in NYC and is confronted by an increasingly isolating series of strange events.

FLOATING SUNFLOWER – directed by Francisco Solorzano
The story of June, a still-life painter, whose creative spirit has been handcuffed by the recent loss of her father. At the end of her rope, with seemingly no place left to turn for inspiration, she casts her recent imperfect paintings onto the curb like common trash.

KETTLE – directed by Jabari Clarke-Pennegan
A woman holds a man hostage, in this dangerous game of cat and cat…

COP SHIT – directed by Gino Donatelli
A cop desperate for redemption turns to his sisters’ crack-head boyfriend to help bring down a drug dealer who uses children to peddle his drugs.
