<p>Now in its 9th Year, the Katra Film Series is an internationally recognized film festival and screenwriting competition dedicated to supporting the next generation of filmmakers at the world famous Alamo Drafthouse Theater. <p>Since 2012, Katra alums have landed theatrical distribution and have gone on to write, produce and direct feature films and TV shows for HBO, FOX, Netflix, Showtime, ESPN, Vice Media including festival stops at Sundance, Tribeca, Berlin and Cannes Film Festival.</p>
<p>Additionally, we have been featured in the Wall Street Journal, CNN, The Huffington Post, Daily News, NY1, NBC, Women &amp; Hollywood, Metro NY, The New Machine, Bklyner, and many other local and national publications.</p>

<p>Aura has cleaned the houses of other people for 30 years. But soon she will become the owner of many houses of her own. The film accompanies Aura during the last stage of her journey – a portrait of a woman who came here as a sweet lamb and became a tiger.</p>
<p><strong>ASUNDER – directed by Nathalie Alvarez</strong></p>
<p>During a family party in the countryside, we follow Nia and her cousin Teo, whose relationship balances on the edge of what is considered normative. A film about power, sexuality, love and the urge to explore.</p>

<p>A typical night at home for a wistful Harlem mother and her creative, strong-willed daughter is disrupted by their violent neighbors.</p>

<p>&#8220;Silica&#8221; peers into our relationships as our cellphones peer back at us. A story about a filmmaker from Israel who is introduced to a filmmaker from Iran for the first time and how they react to it.</p>
<p>The DACA crisis &amp; Asian Americans: One NY’ers story &#8211; directed by Jia Guo<br />
While the majority of DACA recipients are from Mexico, 200,000 come from countries in Asia, Europe, and the Caribbean. Antonio tells his story of being a Chinese-American DACA recipient.</p>
<p>&#8220;June Forth Elegies&#8221; – directed by Ina Chen<br />
Four languages depicting extracts from Liu Xiaobo’s “June Forth Elegies” combined with choreographies by Rosalie Wanka to express different emotions in the poems. Shot in the old city of Salerno (Italy), a temple in Suzhou (China), and against the Berlin Wall.</p>

A woman makes one small decision that has a huge effect on her everyday life.</p>
<p>Unvoiced – directed by Jeremiah Kipp<br />
Edera is a woman whose perception is altered by schizophrenia. She struggles to distinguish between what&#8217;s real and the deception of her self-destructive and manipulative mind.</p>

A young woman who fears she has a mental illness takes a tour of an unconventional treatment facility, against her brother’s wishes.</p>

After her dog is in a terrible accident, a lonely little girl finds companionship in a loaf of ordinary bread.</p>
