CROWDFUNDING TO BUILD INDEPENDENCE:

The only proven path to independence as an artist is a direct connection to your audience. Crowdfunding is becoming a fundamental piece of most financing plans for independent film. However, many filmmakers miss the opportunity to turn their film funding campaigns into audience-building opportunities that can last an entire career — and provide the groundwork for theatrical distribution that you control. Seed&Spark and Tugg are combining forces to invest in the future of independent film by offering a comprehensive Crowdfunding to Build Independence workshop. This two-hour session for film-related projects will provide the crowdfunding action plan most likely to create a lasting, flourishing, direct relationship with your audience.

OUR HOST:
Katra Film Series spotlights new talent and provides a platform for emerging filmmakers to showcase their work in front of a live audience and to network with likeminded industry professionals. Every month we screen a selection of quality short films and the audience votes for one film to move on to the 2nd and 3rd Competitions. Regardless of who the audience chooses, all films will be considered for the Year-End Grand Finale Event where the top films will vie for prizes worth over 1K and the chance to meet with a Major Hollywood Producer.
In partnership with Everyone Matters & Rhino Films, the 2014 Grand Prize Winner will be awarded a one-on-one meeting with acclaimed Producer Stephen Nemeth from the Academy-Award Nominated The Sessions and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

In Partnership with Seed&Spark, the 2014 Grand Finale Audience Choice Award will take home a prize worth over $500, a membership to the Museum of the Moving Image.

The story: Nic (Thomas Wesson), a young photographer, is still in a daze over the death of his girlfriend, Jamie (Dasha Kittredge), when he takes up an unexpected, sexually charged relationship with Ingrid (Audrey Lorea), a girl he barely knows and is addicted to Ecstasy. A dramatic character study of people who tend to party too much, lose themselves in sex, and can’t move on from past mistakes.
