Join us on Saturday, May 18th in honor of Asian Pacific Heritage Month for a special presentation highlighting the works of talented Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in front of and behind the camera as we continue with the 2019 Katra Film Series Sidebar Edition.
Now in its 2nd year, the Katra Sidebar Edition is a new section dedicated to showcasing works by underrepresented and marginalized communities while focusing on issues, topics and stories by filmmakers of color, African-American, Asian-American, Latinx, LGBTQIA and Female Filmmakers from all walks of life.
The Audience will vote for the best work of the evening and the winner takes home $1500 of in-kind prizes courtesy of 3636 Studios and International Screenwriters’ Association.

Lisa (Celia Au) is a queer Chinese American woman who plans to marry her long-term girlfriend. As Lisa navigates the trans-generational challenges of telling her father Yun (Fenton Li), other secrets will test the bounds of family and culture.

Lucy has made up her mind, she’s going back to her homeland to find the brother she and her mom left behind when they fled to the United States. There’s just one tiny hiccup: he fled too and lives as a homeless man in the same city as she does: New York City. The tragedy of the story is that fate allows them to meet.
