KATRA FILM SERIES SISTER FESTIVALS

Katra Film Series is home to several different domestic and international film festivals. Their collective mission is to highlight talented independent filmmakers and cinematic works by historically underrepresented communities. Make sure to check out each festival below!

Bowery Film Festival

The Bowery Film Festival in NYC is determined to bring about a cinematic revolution unseen since the 70’s, striving to discover a new wave of renegade filmmakers creating raw, gritty, funny, and bombastic art in one of the most culturally rich and progressive neighborhoods in New York City. Our mission is simple: to showcase works from filmmakers of all walks of life regardless of gender, race, age, creed, sexual orientation, or political affiliation and provide them with a platform to jumpstart their careers.

World Webfest Mania

Now in its 4th year, World Webfest Mania is a New York City based international festival dedicated to championing short-form and long-form videos/films and screenplays including features, shorts, docs, animation, and web content from around the world. In 2020, our talented filmmakers and creators were featured in Movie Boozer Magazine for their incredible work.

Katra Latinx Festival

In its milestone 3rd year, the Katra Latinx Festival continues its dedication to empowering and highlighting Latino short filmmakers from around the world. To be eligible for consideration, two key members of the production crew must be of Latino descent. Ideally the writer, director or producer. We accept short films, web series, TV pilots, documentaries, music videos, experimental films, animation and more.

New Faces New Voices

Now in Year 5, New Faces New Voices is determined more than ever to continue discovering and highlighting new works often ignored by the mainstream and Hollywood. In just two short years our alums are making waves in the industry with theatrical and streaming distribution on Netflix, Sony Pictures Worldwide and more. Some of our most recent Alums were featured on CNN, ABC News and other local media outlets. NFNV showcases inclusive and diverse voices from around the world and is known for highlighting underrepresented communities – filmmakers of color, female filmmakers, members of the LGBTQ+ and disabled communities, including works by military veterans.

NY Pause

New York Pause is a bold and unparalleled film festival specifically created during the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdown to bring independent cinema back into NYC movie theaters with a $1,000 CASH PRIZE. After a successful launch in November 2021, NYP returns for its 2nd year at the world famous Alamo Drafthouse Cinema! The COVID-19 pandemic may have wreaked havoc and put everything on pause but hope is on the horizon! 2022 will be a banner year for independent filmmakers as we continue to showcase new works in prestigious movie theaters with cash prizes and more!
