Katra Film Series celebrates 10 years by returning to one of the largest movie theaters in New York City. With a proven track record of launching careers, Katra has made a name for itself by making it into the Top 100 Best Reviewed Festivals list for 4 consecutive years, winning the 2019 Prosperity Nation Award and Google’s 2020 PowerUp Grant to continue remaining true to its mission of discovering the next generation of filmmakers and screenwriters from around the world.

Recent alumni success stories include John Campbell, who’s powerful film “The Infamous Future” won our Best Documentary Award in 2019 and is now available to watch on HBO Max; Vanessa Rubio, who screened her narrative short film with us in our 1st year, can now be seen in a co-starring role on “Cobra Kai,” currently the #1 show on NETFLIX; Felix Thompson, winner of our inaugural Grand Prize Award in 2012, directed the original Netflix Series “Letter for the King”; Kiara C. Jones produced the narrative feature “Premature” which screened at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and won an Independent Spirit Award. The film has since been released by IFC Films and now available on HULU; Takeshi Fukunaga 2nd narrative feature “Ainu Mosir” received special jury mention at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival and had its NETFLIX  premiere in November 2020.
